Presentation Guidelines

ORAL PRESENTATIONS

  1. Each oral presentation is allocated 15 minutes, each keynote/invited presentation is allocated 30 minutes.
  2. PowerPoint slides or Acrobat PDF for presentation on a LCD video projector are recommended.
  3. All the presentation rooms will be equipped with: a computer running WINDOWS XP Professional operating system, with MS Office, Acrobat Reader 6.0 and a LCD video projector
  4. We recommend that presenters bring their presentation files in a format compatible with one of the above applications, with the files stored in a CD-ROM or a USB thumb drive (flash disk).
  5. Alternatively, presenters can use their own notebook computer. If you choose to use your own notebook computer, we recommend that you bring a backup copy of the presentation in a CD-ROM or a USB thumb drive.
  6. For those working on Mac computers, please remember to bring along the adapter for connection to the video projector cable.
  7. Presentation files can be up-loaded into the computer in the assigned presentation room, in the morning of the presentation from 08:15 hrs onwards, or during the tea breaks. There will be an assistant in the room to help you.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS

  1. You will be provided with a poster board to mount/display your poster. Self-adhesive Velcro tape will be provided for you to mount the poster.
  2. The maximum permitted dimension for your poster display is the standard A1 size - 841mm (height) by 594mm (width) or 33.1inches (height) by 23.4 inches (width). Posters MUST be in PORTRAIT layout. Please note that the width of the poster board may not be exceeded under any circumstances.
  3. Each poster will be provided a poster number as indicated in the Programme & Abstract Booklet.
  4. A good visual presentation concentrates on the outstanding features of a project, easily grasped by the viewer, with a minimum of text (less than 50% of the total poster area).
  5. All text should be readable at a distance of approximately 1.5 m (use letters with at least 10mm height).
  6. Posters are to be mounted latest by 9am on the day of presentation and taken down by 5 pm on the same day. Posters not removed by that time will be removed and disposed.
  7. Please be at your poster board during your scheduled poster presentation time.
